§ Electronic Systems Committee [ESC]:
Minutes and Reports
CHARGE:
- To explore options and recommend systems utilizing evolving information technologies which support the cooperative efforts of the SAALCK libraries;
- To coordinate specific projects to implement agreed-upon systems and services.
INITIAL TASKS:
- Implement Z39.50 link among the SAALCK OPACs.;
- Design and implement a common SAALCK homepage;
- Plan current awareness workshops for SAALCK library personnel on applicable information technologies;
- Gather data and make recommendations on alternative ways of providing shared access to databases and software.
MEMBERSHIP:
The committee will include one representative from each of the SAALCK libraries.
LEADERSHIP:
For the first year, the committee will be chaired jointly by Elsie Pritchard and Peggy Steele. Subsequently, the chair(s) will be elected by the membership on an annual basis, with elections to take place in September.
Meetings of the committee should take place at the discretion of the chair(s). At least one meeting should be held annually. Between meetings business can be conducted using mail, e-mail, fax, and/or telephone.
