§ SAALCK VIRTUAL LIBRARY COLLECTIONS WORK GROUP IMPLEMENTATION PLAN - 1997/98:
DECEMBER 5 - JANUARY 28:
- Develop budget and select databases to represent VL offerings based on possible 25%, 50%. 75% and full funding.
JANUARY 28 -- MARCH 31:
- Make contact with vendors to get test/training access to databases proposed for inclusion in VL.
- Work with collections committee members to assign responsibilities for becoming familiar with proposed databases and developing or adapting training materials for each database.
MARCH 31--JUNE 30:
- Notify vendors of decision of legislature on funding.
- Work with included vendors on technical arrangements on access and security for all databases.
- Review contracts; negotiate and revise contracts where necessary; sign contracts. (Contracts for period 7/1/98 -- 6/30/99)
- Test all access and make changes with vendors where necessary.
- Develop and distribute publicity on VL (working with SAALCK or other appropriate agency)
JULY 1
- Virtual library databases accessible to users.
- Continue to work on problems that arise after VL is live.
