§ SAALCK STANDING COMMITTEES AND WORK GROUPS' CHARGES RELATING TO THE VIRTUAL LIBRARY PROJECT:

November 21, 1997 (Revised 1/19/98)

In preparation for the implementation of the virtual library in July of 1998, the SAALCK directors requested that all standing committees and work groups submit a rough implementation timeline for 1998-2000 on Jan. 1, 1998. This timeline is to include tasks to be done, when they are to be done, what needs to be in place for them to be done, who should do them, and, what will result if not done. Prioritize these tasks based on funding levels if feasible.

  1. 1. Electronic Systems Committee: Co-Chairs: Elsie Pritchard and Elaine Moore Members: Perry Bratcher, Angela Davig, Susan Dunman, Tari Keller, Roberta Kirby, Cindy Page Charge: To investigate the infrastructure, hardware, and software configurations needed as specified in items #1, #2, #4.1 - #4.4 of the Budget To work with IT staff in coming up with a feasible technology plan for implementation

Document Delivery Committee: Co-Chairs: Sharon Edge and Barbara Hale Members: Gary Austin, Jackie Calvert, Mary Ann Dewey, Ruth Kinnersley, Aleeah McGinnis, Nancy Mollett, Ann Sullivan, Laura Sullivan, Carolyn Tassie, Sarah Vaughn Charge: To investigate the contract courier service and universal borrowers issues as specified in item #5 of the Budget To work on requirements for contract courier service

Collections Work Group: Chair: Bonnie Cox Members: Ken Barksdale, Jackie Calvert, Frances Davis, Coy Harmon, Marvin Leavy, Elsie Pritchard, Judith Niles, Sheila Stuckey, Laura Sullivan Charge: To investigate the content and extent of electronic databases as specified in item #3 of the Budget To work with Electronic Systems Committee on alternatives for database access

Kentuckiana Collections Work Group: Chair: Clara Keyes Members: Roger Adams, Mary Margaret Bell, Charles Hay, Jonathan Jeffrey, Nancy Lewis, Laurie McKellar, Becky Ryder, Sue Lynn Stone Charge: To investigate the content and extent of digitizing Kentuckiana materials as specified in item #4.8 of the Budget To work with Electronic Systems Committee on alternatives for system configurations

Government Information Access Work Group: Co-Chairs: Sandee McAninch and Bill Richardson Members: Vickey Baggott, Perry Bratcher, Beverly Daly, Julia Lewis, Sandee McAninch, Bill Richardson, Lisa Russell, Dee Wood, Philip Yannarella Charge: To investigate alternatives for accessing state government information as specified in item #4.6 and #4.7 of the Budget To work with the Kentuckiana Collections Work Group and Electronic Systems Committee on system configurations

Information Literacy Work Group: Co-Chairs: Stacey Nickell and Carol Nutter Members: Janet Brewer, Rae Helton, Pam Rush, Cindi Trainor, Rebecca Turner, Emily Werrell, Haiwang Yuan Charge: To identify information literacy and computer competency needs of students, faculty and citizens To explore technological options for delivering services that promote information literacy and computer competency program to be used statewide as specified in item #4.5 and #6 of the Budget To investigate the development of a modular information literacy and computer competency program to be used statewide
